NEWARK – She followed her dreams – taking the path of creation.
“Although I was well liked and had friends, I was an introverted and creative kid,” Ashley Green began. “I remember being around eight years old, spending hours in my room writing stories on a typewriter my grandmother bought me at Goodwill. Although I didn’t necessarily dream of being a photographer, I hoped I could be creative in some way.
Today, Green owns and manages Flawless Photography in Newark.
“I first developed an interest in photography as a teenager,” she added. “Editing/post-processing was my favorite. I loved taking photos of my friends and then seeing what I could turn the photos into afterwards. In hindsight, these photos are almost comically bad (think neon colors and excessive airbrushing), but we all start somewhere, right? »
Green was born and raised in Newark, graduating from Newark High School in 2008, then studying early childhood education at Ohio State.
She worked in the financial industry for years, then launched Flawlessly Photography at the height of COVID-19.
“I felt so suffocated,” she said of the timing. “My family and I barely left our backyard, the kids couldn’t go to school and the news was still terrifying. I had to do something to stay sane. I knew a creative outlet would allow me some liberation, so I ordered my first DSLR [digital single-lens reflex camera] and started banging!
“As a mom, I know what it feels like when the only photos you have with your kids are selfies,” she continued. “Time is so precious, our families grow so fast, our relationships evolve and our travels take unexpected turns. It’s common to document the big milestones, but all those sweet moments in between are worth documenting as well.
That’s why, she added, “Flawless Photography is a project from the heart that has turned into a business.”
“Ashley has chosen to finally pursue her dream of being a photographer,” her fiancé, Janden Grady, said. “She started Flawless Photography at the start of the pandemic, and it was probably the worst time to start a business. But driven by her faith and self-confidence, it was a no-brainer for her. She is a determined entrepreneur , passionate about her work and the people she serves.
“Right now I’m doing everything,” Green replied. “Photography and editing, of course. But I also manage the website, marketing, client management and social media. My title is proprietary, but there is so much more than that.
“I couldn’t have written it better,” she concluded. “I’m probably the happiest and most fulfilled I’ve ever been. It’s all God, though. I can’t take any credit for myself.
