Former Big Brother Naija 2021 Season 6 housemate Gbolahan Ololade better known as Kayvee on the show spoke to Legit.Ng during the announcement of BBNaija season 7. He opened up about how he dealt with the pain of his abrupt departure from the show, saying ignoring the social media outrage helped him survive his struggle with mental health.

“I did my photography thing, considering how I left home. I also had to become a mental health advocate, and I hosted an event about listening to thoughts and minds of people. It’s been an interesting journey so far, and I’m super proud of myself.”

The reality TV star also talked about the mental state a person must have before participating in the Big Brother Naija show. While also giving aspiring new roommates survival tips on how to win or get very far on the show.
“If you’re talking about being sane, yes, just being yourself, basically. If you’re at home, just play your game the way you want.”
Cause of Kayvee’s mental breakdown
The former roommate during the interview with revealed what he believed to be the reason for his mental issues. He concluded that the mental stress of entering the house and being locked up for months played a huge role in his psychological breakdown.
“A lot of things, basically, but I can really say that I was mentally stressed at home. Before going home, I was locked up for months. Going into the house, meeting a lot of strangers and a few other things are added to it.”

“I wasn’t the only one affected; other housemates we entered at the same time complained, so they could figure out what happened to me. And yes, if that’s not me, it could be anyone because literally everyone was mentally stressed.”
If you are given a second chance, what will you do differently
The influencer revealed that if he had another opportunity to enter the house, and he had the same type of problem as before, he would speak this time early rather than absorb.
“I would have spoken sooner because I absorbed it. I didn’t really say I felt a certain way; I was staying to myself. Even before I walked into the house, I had this strong feeling of “I have to enter this house by fire by force. I’ll go talk say something they’re making me now make them go talk say I’m not coming in”, you know what I’m saying. I would have liked to stay longer.

Dealing with the pain of leaving the show so soon
Kayvee revealed that it was very painful for him to have to leave the show so soon, he said he felt like he wasted an opportunity. However, at some point he just had to move on.
He also revealed how he handled all the outrage and backlash on social media, saying he just made a conscious decision to ignore it all.
“It hurt me. At one point I felt like I had abused an opportunity, but in the long run I just thought ‘this is what it is’ it happened; I just had to keep going.
After leaving home, how did the outrage and reactions on social media affect you? Not really, I didn’t pay attention to it, it was intentional; I just didn’t want to pay attention to it. If someone wants to grow in life, you don’t care what people say.”

The stylish young brand ambassador also revealed during his interview with Legit.ng that the platform BBNaija gave him helped his career in some ways, but more importantly, it gave him the opportunity to invest in himself. And also he is now an influencer.
“Yeah, in a way, some people think I’m super expensive. Apart from that, I had the opportunity to invest in myself not only as a photographer, but also as an influencer and so many other things; it’s been fun.”

Legit.Ng recalls that last year after Kayvee was written off the show in an interview with Chude Jidenwo, he revealed that when it comes to mental health, there is no badass.
In BBNaija’s story, contestants are either expelled or disqualified. However, for the show Shine Ya Eye, Kayvee became the first contestant to step down.
According to reports from last season, the housemate was asked to leave the show due to his mental health.
