DTN/Progressive Farmer receives awards for writing, photography and more

— On-Farm Production: “Continuing Considerations on Soybeans” by Matthew Wilde. (See….)

— Team Story: “High On Tech” by Barb Baylor Anderson, Dan Crummett, Dan Miller, Joel Reichenberger and Matthew Wilde.

For photography, Reichenberger won first place in the Pictorial category for his “Sunset Ride” entry.

For digital and social media, DTN’s top awards included:

— Podcasts: “E91: The Russian-Ukrainian War and the State of Grain” by Sarah Mock and Todd Hultman. (See….)

— Blogs: “Sort And Cull” by ShayLe Stewart. His entry on three blogs included: “Breaking the $130 milestone in last week’s cattle market” (…); “US questions Brazilian beef imports” (…); and “Will April Live Cattle keep $140?” (…).

The Livestock Publications Council also held its annual awards ceremony at the Ag Media Summit in Raleigh. The DTN/Progressive Farmer won a total of 13 awards: two runners-up, six runners-up and five honorable mentions.

The first place winners were:

— Unique Photo/Graphic: “High Country Dream” by Joel Reichenberger. (See related article on DTN at….)

— “Nine Steps to Better Pasture” by Becky Mills. (See….)


The International Federation of Agricultural Journalists also recently announced in Denmark its annual winners of the Star Award, which recognizes the best work internationally.

Reichenberger won two prizes in the competition: first place in the Nature/Landscape category for “Storm Brewing” and second in the People category for “Pouring Seed”. Last year, the storm photo won ACN Photo of the Year; Reichenberger wrote about how he got the photo in a blog post (…).
