Dubai Police organized a photography workshop for detainees in cooperation with the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Awards (HIPA) to help them make a fresh start and reintegrate into society and the job market after having served their sentence.

Major Muhammad Abdullah Al Obaildy, director of detainee training and academic programs at Dubai Police, said the workshop was part of the principle of community partnership that Dubai Police adheres to.

He said the initiative aims to provide inmates with the skills and abilities to start afresh and immerse themselves in society and the labor market after completing their sentence.

During the workshop, inmates received instruction in professional digital photography and light metering systems. They were also introduced to the type and size of camera lenses and photo editing applications. In addition, they received a practical application of taking photos.

It should be noted that the Dubai Police aims to involve inmates in a number of activities, programs and workshops throughout the year.
