Leyla Stefani is a real self-taught woman at the head of the photographic space

Photography is a deceptive art. On the one hand, it seems as simple as pointing a phone at any object you want and taking a bunch of photos until you find something you like. But on the other hand, it’s a fascinating and complex process that can create world-changing beauty and capture the imagination, attention and market appeal of millions, if not billions.

Photography at the highest level is no easy task, and it’s something only a select few in the world can do.

That’s what makes Leyla Stefani’s journey so incredible. As a young woman living in Los Angeles in the tech world, Leyla had no photography experience, but taught herself how to capture effective and powerful photos after having a few opportunities.

Leyla only started photography when she was 30 years old, but she quickly made a name for herself in the world of beauty photography, with tens of thousands of social networks, a long series of projects for some of the biggest fashion brands in the world. , and a future that looks infinitely bright.

Leyla’s photography work is currently in 1,000 Ulta stores (with the INH brand). This year, she will also have some photos in Sephora stores. She has worked with LA Girl cosmetics for their Coachella campaign, OneSize (Patrick Starrr) beauty product shots, Glamnetic and many other top brands.

While most photographers working at the highest level in the industry typically come with years of experience, technical training and outsourced activities, Leyla has the unique distinction of being a truly self-taught photographer.

This means she designed her business from the ground up and did her own marketing, billing, brand communications, technical training and equipment development, and everything a photography business needs. She is truly self-taught in the ultra-competitive photography space, a rarity in itself, not to mention becoming a mainstay in her industry as a woman of color.

One of Leyla’s unique contributions to the world of photography is her commitment to showing beauty in all its forms, and her photography pages reflect a portfolio that spans all ethnicities, skin tones and appearances, serving as a powerful reflection of global multiculturalism. “Big brands are starting to change,” she explains, referring to the world of photography and beauty reflecting a more diverse field.

She takes an active role in all of her photo shoots, and her sessions are usually not very long, a few hours at most. But, as she explains, there’s an art to making sure you get the perfect shot, something not everyone can do easily.

“The purpose of beauty photography is to sell a product; the photographer must have key knowledge of the angles and poses that will sell this product. The average person won’t automatically know how to do it,” says Stefani.
