On this World Photography Day, Canon strikes a chord with all Indian photographers with ‘The Kathakaar of Life’ campaign

Campaign rolled out in 9 regional languages, positioning the Canon EOS R system as the perfect companion for any photographic activity

NEW DELHI, August 19, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — As an ode to photographers, Canon India celebrates the art of storytelling with its unique new campaign titled “The Kathakaar of Life” on World Photography Day. With a vision of humanizing and recognizing the fervor of professional photographers across the country, the campaign was sung in the captivating and innocent voice of a child. The campaign aims to raise awareness of Canon’s flagship EOS R system and position it as the ultimate companion for every photographer to tell their own personalized stories. Through this campaign, Canon celebrates photographers as zealous superstars out in the world to capture every story in life; whether it’s travel, weddings, fashion, wildlife or celebrations, all made possible with Kathakaar (EOS R System) to capture the memories of a lifetime. The song is a beautiful narration of how the Canon EOS R system enables these superstar photographers to tell their stories seamlessly, regardless of the shooting conditions, subject or location.

Taking the campaign to new heights and crowning the superstars of Indian photography, Canon has announced a fascinating user-generated competition titled “Canon Superstar” on Instagram, which will run from 19e August 25 to August 25e August. For the contest, users must record Kathakaar audio, re-reel their photos or videos to one of six photographic genres – travel, fashion, wedding, wildlife, street and food. Entries will be in the form of reels to be mailed with the #KathakaarOfLife and specifying the genre of photograph. Adding more local flavor, any of the nine tongue tracks can be used to create the reels. Six lucky winners across India will be announced on 31st August, crowned as the superstars and rewarded with exciting Canon products.

Additionally, World Photography Day aims to celebrate art and empower photographers to take their art to the next level. To ensure the same, Canon has launched several consumer initiatives across the country.

In the eastern region, Canon organized a photo walk with Canon EOS Maestro, Soumya Shankar Ghosal at North of Kolkata for professional photographers, amateur photographers and photography enthusiasts. The walk took over 50 participants through famous city attractions and helped them gain practical knowledge of street photography. In addition, Canon also held a photography workshop for professional photographers, aimed at improving participants’ knowledge of photography, honing the skills of more than 100 photographers.

In the north, Canon held a photography workshop at Lovely Professional University, Phagwara for over 100 students from the Fine Arts Department. As a brand proud to be the one stop solution for all photography and printing needs, the workshop will be coupled with click and print activities. Participants will click on photos and Canon will print these photos through its printers and offer them original photo sleeves made from them. Additionally, Canon will also hold a basic outdoor photography workshop on the 20the August at Bal Bharti Public School, Noida for 25 student amateur photographers. These students will have the opportunity to cultivate the necessary knowledge and skills in photography for a period of three hours. They will also learn how to use entry-level DSLR models.

In the West, Canon organized a photography workshop in Daund, Maharashtra, the main theme of which was “Wedding”. During the workshop, Canon showcased its range of mirrorless cameras (EOS R system), which saw over 50 attendees join in and learn more about wedding photography. Canon also participated in a stage exhibition in Indore which attracted over 200 visitors. This was an on-site workshop, where the Kathakaar of Life campaign video was also played on all screens to showcase Canon India’s brand new campaign.

In the south, Canon is hosting Vlogger Meetups at its Image Square stores in Bangalore to enable creators to produce more engaging content using the best of Canon imaging technology.
