A SOUTH Wales Camera Club member whose photography business was voted the best in Wales has encouraged others to follow his passions.
Steffi Andrews, from Abergavenny, quit her corporate career after 27 years last July to follow her passion for photography.
Having previously provided photography services on a part-time basis, Ms Andrews took the leap and went full-time into her business – Steffi Andrews Photography – which provides marketing photography for businesses and brands.
His business has been so successful with clients that it was nominated as a finalist in the Best Photography Services category at the Best of Welsh Business Awards.
And at a ceremony at the Coal Exchange in Cardiff on Sunday, Ms Andrews found out her company had won the award.
“I was blown away,” she said. “That was the biggest surprise – I couldn’t believe it.
“It was amazing. The votes were completely by the customers. If you think about how long I’ve been in business compared to some of the other companies, it just shows how well I’ve taken care of my customers.
“When I arrived they had cards at our seats with ‘finalist’ on them. As soon as I saw that, that was enough for me. When they called out my name, I was in disbelief. I got a little emotional – I was so proud.
“I was never brave enough to give up my corporate career for my passion, but then I found my bravery in a global pandemic.
“Even though I found it difficult to take this step, I worked so hard to provide my clients with the best possible service and a truly personal experience.
“I met two other people who were also nominated. Everyone was so supportive.
“My message for people who want to follow their passion is to do it. Just be brave. So many people are in this position where they want to do it, but don’t know if they can. A lot of people out there in the night were freelancers who seized this chance.
