“Third Thursdays,” the popular monthly virtual and in-person photography presentation and artist talk at MCCC’s JKC Gallery in Trenton, returns October 21, 2021

Trenton, New Jersey “Third Thursdays,” the popular monthly photography presentation and artist talk at the James Kerney Campus (JKC) Gallery at Mercer County Community College (MCCC), will take place on October 21, 2021 from 7 to 8 p.m. and will focus on based on award-winning photography by Edwin Torres and film collage artist Erin Delsigne. The show is hosted by Heather Palecek and Habiyb Shu’Aib and the public is invited. One must reserve.

Hosted by Michael Chovan-Dalton, Director of JKC Gallery, the event will take place in person and on the Zoom conference platform.

“The monthly events on the third Thursday of last semester at JKC have attracted a growing contingent of art photographers and members of the public,” said Chovan-Dalton. “There is a palpable sense of excitement during these sessions as the artists exhibit their work and explain their motivations and inspirations,” he said. “The question-and-answer sessions are an amazing educational experience for everyone. “

About the artists

Erin Delsigne, (AKA Film Collage Artist) is best known for her instant film collages using Polaroid and Fuji Instax films to create psychedelic landscapes and surreal portraits. Delsigne was educated at Humboldt State University and Cal State Long Beach; studying photojournalism, black and white film, digital and commercial photography.

In 2018, Film Collage Artist was born when Los Angeles-based artist Erin Delsigne created her first instant film collages to bridge the gap between understanding her controversial battle with Lyme disease. His work is captured on a custom converted Mamiya Universal Press with a Rezivot back; allowing Erin to photograph with i-Type, Sx-70 and 600 Polaroid films.

Edwin J. Torres is an award-winning photographer keen to uncover stories about family life and disenfranchised communities. He graduated from Colby College with a degree in American Studies, which sparked his intellectual curiosity for history, current affairs, and the representation of cultures in various media.

Born in the Hunts Point neighborhood of the Bronx and raised in a Puerto Rican family, Torres has developed a love for his vibrant community and works to be one of the voices of the interior. His work has been published in the New York Times, Vice, The Atlantic, The New York Daily News, The American Prospect, ProPublica, The GroundTruth Project and Leica Blog.

About “Third Thursdays” at the JKC gallery

Heather Palacek and Habiyb Shu’Aib launched the “Third Thursdays” Artist Lectures as a platform for artists to showcase their work in Trenton and the regional community. The events quickly reached audiences from New York to Philadelphia. With the introduction of hybrid virtual and in-person exhibitions, JKC Gallery now features artists from across the country with a global audience.
